We
have over 100 sows in production here at Durre Family
Show Pigs. At the current time, the majority of our sow
base is pure York and York-Cross Sows, which we breed
for both pure and blue litters. Our sows originate from
two of the finest York Sow herds in the country ---
Steve Cobb Family and the Eddie Family --- two great
organizations that have proven their breeding ability.
We
are also fortunate to have gained access to some of the
Marc Compart’s Chester Whites. Many people didn’t even
know that Marc was working on establishing a foundation
Chester herd, but he did. And, in our opinion, they are
flat good.
Furthermore, we are very privileged to be working with
Dale Greenwood on our Durocs. Dale has been a long-time
Duroc breeder. Many of you younger generation show
people may not know the name, but Dale is an excellent
hog man, whom we have a great deal of trust in, to help
us put together our red hogs.
While we work with many of the boar studs, a lot of our
partnerships are formed with 3 primary studs ---
Southern Advantage Sires, Hi-Point Genetics and Shipley
Swine Genetics.
We are grateful for the help and advice that our
good friends above give us, we also know that our
foundation is just that…a foundation. From here, we are
responsible for building the house. That’s why we want
you to know that we work hard at building our sow base,
so that we can call it our own. Because like our motto
